Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past couple years, you've likely heard that Vancouver is the host of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

I'd like to extend a Karmic welcome out to everyone in Canada and beyond who have decided to visit our beautiful city in the New Year. You'll be happy to learn that we are also the home of the liveliest and largest Ubuntu group in the country.

While you're making your plans, please consider making an Ubuntu Vancouver LoCo meeting one of your "must see" events.

Two in Ottawa!

The first is this Thursday, Oct 29th, 7pm at UMI cafe, http://www.umicafe.org/

Second is November 14th, Saturday at Carleton University, of which tanjir says, We want to collaborate with local individuals and groups. We will have a room with multimedia projector. We are looking for speakers to demonstrate Ubuntu, and its' new features as well as Ubuntu project and sponsors to cover the cost of the event. Two pieces of news out of Ontario:

Everyone and their dead badger probably knows already, but the Ontario GNU Linux Fest 2009 is on this Saturday, 24 October 2009 in the Province City of Toronto. Advanced reg is closed, but you can still get in at the door Saturday morning.
